It's in everyone's interest that the stock market is stable and that companies continue to grow and employ people. A stock market crash has repurcussions outside the City and is likely to affect savers, borrowers, pensioners, employees, tax-payers and service users. That's everyone - except possibly HRH the Prince of Wales and Her Madge-esty.

Recessions tend to be gradual, the definition is three quarters of negative growth. What we are experiecing of late is stock market volatility, which is different and can contribute to a recession as it makes people stop spending their money as they think doom is on the horizon.Hoping this year is better than the last.
