Crazy MORE TH>N car insurance ads

I'm sure that you've all seen 'Lucky', the MORE TH>N car insurance pet dog that features in the car adverts (and has a unique ability to drive it on one occasion!) ...
Well, it seems that MORE TH>N are a little bit more fussy about having pets in the car when it comes to using their service. A relative recently broke down and wanted to use the roadside recovery service - however the recovery vehicle would only take the human passengers and refused to take their pet dog that was in the car as well!!
A bit bizarre considering the theme of their ads - maybe there should be a forum thread for misleading adverts?!

Not sure if it's true but I've heard whispers that 'Lucky' has unfortunately died and More Than are trying to keep this under wraps.
harsh decision on the dog in the car though.0 -
Hi - Benson or to use his stage name Lucky went to that great kennel in the sky a few months ago and lived to the age of 12 years.Originally he came from humble stock as he and his mother were found cold and hungry in some bushes by a road in Middlesex in 1994.A rescue centre looked after them for three months and eventually a kindly couple adopted him but unfortunately he chewed much of their furniture so animal trainer Olive Tate agreed to give him a home. After much training and confidence boosting he was chosen for the Lucky role ahead of many others but as you will have gathered the Lucky used in recent TV ads is an imposter !!0

It was in the newspapers, so I don't see how that is keeping it under wraps.
I agree the decision about the dog in the car was harsh and I would take that one up with More Than if it was me.0 -
Perhaps they were worried the dog would want to drive... Get in touch with the tabloids - they'd love it.0

We broke down at the weekend, and the recovery driver spoke to us at some length over this issue.
He said that he'd had a major run-in with a customer over his company's policy that dogs were not allowed in the recovery vehicle.
But after he'd talked through it, I could see his point. If people are happy to transport their dog in their car, they can transport their dog in their broken-down car whilst they sit in the recovery vehicle. A dog is a dangerous thing to have in a moving vehicle unless it's properly contained (i.e. with bars at the back of the car). A recovery vehicle isn't going to have this. An unrestrained dog in a strange vehicle could panic and attack the driver causing a major accident. A dog in a strange vehicle may cause "mess" in the vehicle which is unpleasant for the driver and for subsequent passengers. A dog on the seats will make a mess of subsequent passengers' clothes.
His company's policy is to keep the dog in the broken-down car, where presumably it was already safe, and to stop as many times as required on the journey for the dog's comfort breaks.
This sounds reasonable to me.
Did your relative break down in South Wales perchance, leroy? It could be the same person!0 -
