it's set up ( don't ask me how) with an ordinary sky box.today my son went to play a dvd and the machine appeared to be dead although the clock was still in the display ( but it had stopped).in the end i played with the plugs at the back of the telly and got it working but when the telly came on ( with the dvd playing ) no picture came on and i aven't a clue what to do.i've been pressing all the buttons on the remotes but nowt.also i noticed in the display where the clock is it said L1 when i think the disc started playing and i've not seen that before-and it's not mentioned in the book

L1 would usually be the channel to display the first scart input to your DVD player so if you don't have anything connected to the first Scart In socket then I would not expect you to see a picture on the screen when this is selected.
You should have a button on your remote to change between DVD and other inputs so pressing that will hopefully return your DVD picture to the screen0 -
i've loadsa scarts but couldn't tell you what go where.i just have the sky box and dvd recorder that's all i can say! loadsa buttons on the remote but i don't wanna press a wrong one cos i'll get in a pickle and not get the tv pic back on-believe me i've done it before.the manual might as well have been written in Russian cos i don't understand it and i don't have anybody to ask0

Assuming the Skybox is set up to record on the DVD recorder then there must be a scart connection between the two. Look at the back of the DVD recorder to see which it is plugged to. It will be either AV1 (maybe labelled L1) or AV2. To watch Sky with the DVD recorder switched on, the DVD input must be selected to the correct input (either AV1 or 2) The other DVD's scart should be to the tv. Check what input it is plugged to and select that to the tv. If the DVD is off the signal may passthrough anyway.
If the clock displays this normally means the DVD is in standby. The L1 displayed is probably the input selection."...IT'S FRUITY!"0 -
from what i can see on back of the recorder AV1 scart goes to the back of the telly and AV2 goes to the sky box0

In that case to watch the DVD or sky turn the TV to the AV channel which the DVD scart is plugged to. To watch Sky try turning the input on the DVD recorder to L2 (using the channel up/down buttons on the DVD remote."...IT'S FRUITY!"0
