Abbey 5% Supermarket Cashback

The 5% Abbey cashback until the end of July sounded good but it's not for on-line shoppers. It's for in-store shoppers only ..according to the Abbey helpline.

Has anyone tried it on-line and got a different result?

I tried it on Sainsbury on-line in December. It counted as supermarket shopping.

Same as Barclays card, I used it for Tesco online shopping. And it counted 2% cashback.

Another question: I've had over £50 cashback now (all at 5% and in-store). Not that I'm complaining - just wondering whether to carry on using it.

Anyone else found Abbey can't count?

I have noticed that as well. It says in the T&C that they can claim it back but they haven't done so yet.

I'm in the same position. I suppose we could close the a/c while we're ahead, however might be worth hanging on to see what happens.

No doubt this will become a hot topic on this forum whether they claim back the excess or not!

There is another thread somewhere that says you might. Depends whether retailer uses 5411 code, I believe.

    Hey guys best way is...

whilst you do your regular shopping..you buy gift cards..u can pick up gift cards from various aisles...and then top each gift cards with £100 each. (no tesco points gained during buying it).... and then use the tesco clubcard and the gift card at the tesco pumps and you get the best of both...

5% from abbey when buying the gift card and tesco points when buying fuel.so 6% in all!!

unfortunately no joy for tesco clubcard plus customers!!!!.... NO DOUBLE POINTS..

but then let the retailer win somewhere.. if they go bust we dont get any thing!!

Don't know which retailers. Other thread is "Is Abbey's 5% cashback really just for tins of beans?".

    Won't help much, though.
