40mm waste pipe (push fit)

hi,

can anyone recomend where i can buy a length of 40mm 'push fit' waste pipe. i only need about 50cm worth but know i will probably have to buy a 3 metre length. my local plumbers merchant claim this is not worth them stocking as few people ask for it!!!!

i have got the bends i need from screwfix but they only sell a pack of 5x3m lengths which is loads more than i need

thanks

You will need to know the make of the pushfit,as most push fit pipes from different makers are slightly different and will not fit, unlike solvent-weld which is standard.
You can also use a all-fit coupling, you only choice would be to phone around different plumbers/builders merchants.
A thankyou is payment enough .

I would get the pipe from Screwfix as well.

I don't think they sell 'Brand Make' fittings (such as Osma), so I doubt you will find that it is incompatible with anything builders merchant may keep. Have a look on the fittings and see if there is a make, the ring round local builders and plumbers merchants, or ideally pay them a visti, and take the fittings with you.

The shop i work in would sell you some by the meter, but it depends on where you live obviously, since we are only a 2 branch company.

I had a similar problem recently when trying to fit a wash basin to an existing 32mm solvent weld system and needed to add a short length of pipe. Pushfit 32mm pipe appeared to be about 2mm smaller and the standard push fit straight connector would not go onto the solvent weld pipe. I solved it by getting a universal adaptor from Wickes priced at £1.49. This looks like a straight connector but it has a screw fittings like those used to connect the pipe to the waste trap. There is a conical washer at each end that must take up any size differences in the pipes connected. It worked for me and I assume they must do one in 40mm as well. You should be able to buy just 1 x 2 metres of pipe from Wickes at the same time. Hope this helps.
