re-applying for card after closing account

hi all hope someone can give me some advice on this: I recently transfered the whole balance of my halifax card to my husbands 0% card and closed my halifax credit card account so as to have less credit on my file. Now halifax have introduced a 0% on purchases with the credit card i had and i would like to take advantage of this. I assume they don't have to "give" me another credit card just because i recently had one, is this right?. I think i'll be turned down as my credit record is poor, although Halifax did increase my credit limit before i closed it. i called Halifax before closing it to see if they could offer any deals but they said they could not. Any advice as to re-apply or not? thanks

Halifax is one of a handful of lenders who treat former cardholders as new customers a month or so after an account is closed down.

Unfortunately, there's no guarantee you would be accepted or handed the same credit limit the second time round.

I would check your credit reports to make certain the account is actually closed down and marked "settled" before you re-apply
