I had my renewal quote from Tesco's for £210 a few weeks ago, I rang and asked straight away if this was their best price, which they said it was. As usual I started looking to drive the price lower by checking out competitors. Most were in the £250 range for same full comp cover, NCDP, Motor legal, temp replacement car and £100 excess. Lowest I could find was LloydsTSB £194.10.
With just 2 days to go before my renewal was due I rang up Tesco's to cancel giving the lower quote as the reason. Suddenly they were piloting some new scheme (which sounded like twaddle) and could offer me a further 10% off my renewal which I accepted

My GF is with them (MSE from last year - yeah)
Went from 3rd Party to Fully Comp and saved £90!
We have hunted everywhere, can't find anything cheaper than her renewal quote (£220) - Corsa 1.2, parked on the street, 35 (she will kill me for this bit),clean licence, 12000 MPA
Policy expires on the 18th of this month...do we wait and "try it on"?
Dont bother wasting your time on people who dont like you0 -
You've got nothing to lose by ringing up to cancel.
I too have a Corsa (mine on Driveway and less annual mileage though). Cheapest companies I found were :- Lloydstsb £194
- Virgin £190 but no replacement car
- Tesco £210 (before discount)
- Halifax £212
- Screentrade £211 but £150 excess

Under 25 and a 2 litre car and only driving 3 yrs - thats why!
My P reg 2.8l People carrier costs me £600 via Diamond this year - £300 down on last year both fully comp.
30yrs, 5yrs no claims (protected), driveway and 9yrs licence. Its excessive cos hubby is on it and he has 4 claims from last year! (one theft, one vandalism and in one week two people ran into him front and back!)
What annoys me is that we have a 02 reg 1.3gsi hyundi in his name, me as named drive rand thats costing £700!
But we both drive both cars about the same amount of time.!0 -

I'm 35 and have (only just) 5 years no claims. My current car (beat up old Golf) costs me £160 fully comp. Been looking at a 1.4 2 year old Fiesta, and got a quote for £157 with Direct Line as I already have my home policy with them. Your only difference from me is a few thousand miles a year and I park my car on my driveway.
Not bragging - just trying to say I think someone can do better than £220 for you. And dont be afraid to play companies off against each other! My old company gave me two months free last time as they couldnt theoretically lower the annual premium.
Good luck

Your post code will also affect your premium. If you live in a theft or accident hot spot then you will pay extra.
