Need help bartering for blinds!

Hello,
I am having trouble bartering.
The story is, I am renting a flat from May. it is a loft appartment, so it's in the roof. the windows are Velux. Current tenant has blinds on 5 out of 7 of these windows, and she wants to sell them to me.
They are authentic Velux blinds.
She bought them for 750 5 years ago, and wants to sell for 500. I argued this was steep as they are 5 yrs old, and offered 300.
She is not budging. She offered to let me pay in two installments, but I can't afford more than 350 for these blinds.
How do I progress?

  • I'd say stick to your £300 offer, I think it's a very fair price. What's the current tenant going to do with them otherwise? I assume they're custom made for the windows so what will she do with them if you don't buy them, throw them away I imagine.

If I were you I'd stick to my guns, £300 is better than nothing.

£100 each for 5 year old blinds seems very steep. I would make it clear that the £300 is your final offer otherwise you will have to get some new ones made and will be measuring up and ordering them soon so you need a final decision from her by the end of the week.

£300 seems fair for 5 years old blinds.
