How do i compare suppliers..
We are with british gas for electric and gas and apart from their dire service for our electric the bills seem quite good to me. We are in a new build and obviously with it being the winter period gone by i would have thought the bills would have been higher..
We pay £30 on a card each month and don't seem to go over it, we have the heating on constantly, lots of baths showers etc..
Just about to recieve our electric bill after 7 months and have been told it will be £150 (will see!) which makes it just over £20 a month again we have lots plugged in etc, and dont worry about the electric too much..
How do i search other co's to see if we can get it even cheaper?
Thanks.

Hi Jane....go to this site, fill in your details....kwh's preferably. Does £30 on a card mean a prepayment meter, in which case Ebico do not charge for paying up front.
With heating on all the time doubt you are paying enough.
Tho being new build should be well insulated.0 -

Hi thanks for the reply..no i meant £30 on the british gas payment card that i pay at pay points etc. The bills we have had are up to date from the reading we gave when we moved in up until last wed, they were before estimated and extrotionate! until we rung and sorted.
Can't see any site to look at though!? thanks0 -
I suggest that what you pay is pretty meaningless in the short term; unless you are certain that you are not running up huge debit balances.
£50 a month for both gas and electricity, with the use you describe, and in mid-winter seems to be far too low!
The average household spends £1,000 a year and the majority of that in winter.
Do you have the meter readings and prices to post here(actual readings, not estimated) and we can tell you what you are spending.
If you are on BG's standard dual fuel tariff, then without doubt there are cheaper tariffs; even from BG itself.0 -
The comparison sites, Jane are listed just above this board. Energyhelpline seems a favourite .....also have a freephone 0800 074 07450

Ahh thanks ken will check those out later.
cardew I will post readings later only have current ones at mo as opposed to ones when we moved in.. though they do have the ones when we moved in. If we have had previous bills and paid for gas then surely they are right? they are not estimated and i would hope i wouldn't get a huge bill if we have already paid? The electric still hasn't showed but again if the readings are right and the bill is 'actual' then surely all is well? you are worrying me now!!
Will post readings later! Thanks0
