Has the euro ever been as low as 50p? I looked at http://www.fxtop.com/en/ currency converter this morning 1 euro worth 80p this evening worth 79p. Only a penny, but it's encouraging.

No, actually it was never as low as two for a pound, this chart shows 59.5p in June 2001, nearly 7 years ago.
