AA Insurance Renewal without notification

Hi everyone! Can anyone help? Last year I took out a breakdown repair cover with AA which ended on 15.2.2008. This year I bought a Norwich Union car insurance with Rescue on 28 January 2008. On 7 March I received a credit card statement from my bank stating that AA had taken out £108 from my credit card. I did not intend to renew my AA breakdown which would lapse on after 15.Feb 2008 not realising that they will automatically direct debit my account if I don't call to cancel. I called AA and told them about their terms and conditions booklet ‘Cancellation’ it states that ‘You have the right to cancel this cover within 14 days from the receipt of your policy documentation (the cooling off period) You’ll be entitled to a full refund of your premium….However, to date I did not receive any policy documentation or a new AA card which would have alerted me to call AA to cancel the cover. I only found out through my credit card statement which arrived on 7.3.2008. I immediately called 0800 0852721 and spoke to Carla who passed me to Paula but they could not resolve the issue. Paula said that she would ask the manager to call me back but to date no one has called me back. I have been to the citizen's Advice and the advice was to write to the Head office of AA. Could anyone please help advise me on how to act to get my money back. They said that they had sent me a letter but I did not receive it. Imagine if someone is away and does not recieve their notification than upoin returning will find that money has been taken out from their account and it is too late to cancel. In my case I was in but I received no letter. Please help!

Why not follow the cab advice you have been given? Seems sound.0
