 f****** Royal Mail. Lost 3 of my letters in one week, and of course 2 of them would relate to a 0% CC I've been waiting on for over 2 months. And the post which does manage to get through comes very late in the afternoon - delaying urgent matters by another day. Yesterday I received a credit card notification 6 weeks after postmarked date! What's really going on?

They don't give a toss, I've given up paying Credit Card bills through the post because a couple of times a first class posted bill has taken over a week to arrive and I've had to pay charges for late payments, even though I sent them well before the deadline!
Apparantly this happens quite often and Royal Mail state that just because a letter is first class next day delivery cannot be guaranteed and can actually take up to 9 days.....
So why do we pay extra for first class? And what exactly is first class about this service anyway???Dream of being mortgage free....

I try very hard to ensure all my finances can be done online these days. An account requiring things to go through the post, either direction (bills arriving, payments going), is at a major disadvantage. The postal service is abysmal, and noticeably worse than 2 years ago no matter what they claim.0

Dont get me started over royal mail, grrrr. Our post never gets here until after midday (well apart from when we a a new postie for one day - it arrived before 9 am then, tell me how comes that can happen?), letters take forever and the staff in the post office are so rude it makes me scream. I wrote a letter to the head office about a postal order the other week - it took 3 weeks for them to get back to me! :mad:I remember when this was just a little website! :money:0

I doesn't bother me that the post is delivered later in the day. It was never delivered before I left for work at 7am and would be waiting for me when I got home at 7pm. So for me (and a vast number of similar people) it is irrelevant what time during the day that they actually deliver. So if it keeps the cost of postage down, it is OK by me.
As for missing and late mail, it must depend where you live. For example I have been using some of the free DVD trials and thus have been receiving and sending quite a few items where I know exactly when they were sent and when they were received. Over 98% of items sent first class are received the next day and the remaining 2% the following day.0
