problem with my maestro card

sorry if this is in the wrong section.
i am with Northern Bank and have a maestro card.. when i try to use it to shop online (play.com and amazon uk) it keeps declining the card.. all the details are correct
i thought i had lost my orginal card so i ordered a replacement and activated it, so that is the card i used first, i then found my old 1 and tried it, but it was the same problem.
can anyone advise me on what to do? i contacted play.com today they said they were having problems with the system that allows new buyers to purchase, but surely if amazon isnt accepting it then it must be something to do with my account?

I don't know if Northern Bank do, but does the card carry an issue number? Are you using the correct one?0

hi, thanks for your reply. on the 2 cards that i have there is a space for an issue number but there is nothing printed0
