Realplayer Won't Play My Music

I tried to transfer all of my music from my pc to my laptop but now the laptop won't play any of it.
Basically I just copied and pasted all music from my realplayer library to a flashdrive and then did the same onto my laptop desktop, opened realplayer on the laptop, imported files and hey presto it worked, I deleted from flsahdrive as I didn't think I'd need them again but I've just opened realplayer to find that all music files have a red cross over them and can't be played
What have I done wrong? I thought it was all a bit too good to be true for a computer numpty like myself.
Any suggestions please before I have to dust off my cd collection and create a whole new library from scratch.
Thanks
Mike

I wonder if when you copied them you left the copyright protection on
if you move to another device they won't play
there is an option in windows media player to NOT have copy protection

I tried playing them when I first copied to laptop and they played alright but could that be because the flashdrive was still in the usb port, in the filename heading all the songs show G:tunes as in the port and folder name from which I imported.

don't use real player it's pretty much a virus and a nightmare in the end. Have a look at real alternative if you really need something that can play real media or if it is purely to play mp3's etc have a look at winamp.0

OK as I said I'm a complete numpty when it comes to computers, are you saying I should get rid of realplayer off my pc and laptop. I do also have windows media player or is that also a bad choice.
I don't want anything too complicated as I just need to be able to listen to music and watch videos from my digicam.
thanks
