Hi, I have Virgin cable TV,broadband with wireless & phone. I'm considering changing to sky, but how easy is the process. I had to pay to get the wireless connector, will I need adifferent one?

We switched from the Virgin package to the Sky package at the end of last year. Nothing against Virgin, it was a good service, but I wanted to see Lost on Sky One. Yes you have to pay £124.99 to get a BT line installed but we got that refunded to our Sky account as we did it just to take their service, which we thought was very good of them.
If I need to speak to the support team I can get through quickly and speak to a British person (not so with Virgin). The transition process was not too painful and we were without broadband for a fortnight, but I just used my PC at work. Overall we now have a better package and service, and we pay slightly less than we did for Virgin. I'm pleased we switched.0 -
Depending on why you want to change first call Virgin and tell them you want to. You should get ahefty discount off them. OF course it there's another reason you want to change that may not be a factor.
Also remember you can get better broadband speeds through Virgin if that is important to you.
When I looked into swapping to Sky I got a £24 per month discount so it just wasn't worth swapping. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
You can certainly get a good discount off Virgin if you ring retentions
Sky do not refund the BT line costs anymore. Some lying salesman was at my door saying that the line cost would be refunded and there was no monthly BT fees - emailed sky to check - not true
Lost is now on Video on Demand - which is the killer application on Virgin cable tv. Sky do not offer VOD
Setanta sports included in the XL package
Finally re the Indian call centres - they work just fine. My friend had a problem with the cable box a few days ago - the Indian call centre arranged a same day engineers call
I can see no reason to go to sky0 -
thanks folks. I've used up all my lives with Virgin. I did the "why do new customers get it cheaper?" line. Got a good reduction for 6 months - which actually they didn;t revert it until 12 months. Then I tried again, got refused so I wrote to cancel, and then got the phone call " what can we do to keep you?2 So got another 12 months deal. Also, they "forgot" to take my Direct debit for broadband for 6 months. So, all thas finished now and I'm not compaining really, its just that there are more sky channels that Virgin simply dont supply. On the whole though, it now doesn;t seem to bright an idea to change. Think I might try asking for another deal.:smileyhea A SMILE COSTS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING0

 Be very wary of Virgin 'forgetting' to take the Broadband DD (As they seem incapable of lumping in with out TV & Phone bill DD) - they didn't take ours for over 6 months and now want it all in one go!!
Anyone know how much BT is if you have a BT line in the house and just want to get away from Virgin?0
