LPG Gas Conversions
It all started when my boyfriend bought a petrol jeep, which is now mine thank you very much Leon, but  18 miles to the gallon? One of his friends told him about a place that does LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) conversions so he decided to contact one of the local companies and have a look.
The results were...
No loss in performance.
Slight loss in MPG.
£850 for the conversion.
But with petrol now reaching £1.03 per litre, the savings are the bees knees with a litre of LPG weighing in at only 43p per litre losing only 1 or 2 miles per gallon. Plus the environmentalists among us just love it with the lowest ever car emissions. Apparently, - it would take around 20 LPG cars to produce as much oven baking greenhouse nitric oxides as is pumped out by just one diesel-powered car. Carbon emissions are around 20% less for LPG than it is for normal unleaded petrol.
This was an expensive 4x4 which I intend to keep which is why I wanted the conversion. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who had a car they either weren't planning to keep or the cost of the conversion would outweigh the savings you would make.
Suits me though, I do a lot of miles and I really grudge the cost of petrol. Just Google for "LPG Conversions (your area)" if your keen.
