in Credit cards
Hello , Im looking to borrow £3000 ( towards a car) ive looked at loans etc and the amount we pay back just seems silly. I've never had credit card and i wondered if anyone could help me answer few questions please ? the 0% for 12 months on the halifax card seems a good idea , but am i missing something .is it as straight forward as i read it ?? could i apply for the card , pay the rest of the car on the card, pay off as much as i can in that 12 months then if not paid off do a balance transfer ????? Also would the garage that i get the car from accept credit card , like i said ive never had a card before so just double checking!!! be great to have your views and advice please - Thankyou for your time

its not clear which Halifax offer you are referring to
but if its 0% on purchases then basically its a good idea but do consider the following :
a. if you haven't ever had a CC before then you may find you are rejected for this as you will have no credit record of managing a card well.
b. you may find the dealer will not accept CC payment or will charge a 2-3% fee... you need to check.
c. if you dont clear the card by the time the 0% offer runs out you will probably have to pay 3% BT fee assuming that you can get a 0% BT card at that time.0 -
hello thanks for your advice...i have a morgage would that help in any way of getting a credit card (in respect of what you were saying about never having a CC before)
also if i got the card would this be my best option than getting a loan ?
sorry for sounding so vague!!0 -
'best option' depends upon the detail. i'm afraid.
will the car retailer accept a CC
how much can you repay per month
how much will a loan cost
etc but it is likely to be a good deal if the details are right.0
