when you open mesenger window, you will see some option on the top. click on tools and it will give you the option to do the audio and video set up. follow instructions.
hope this helps:hello: :j0 -
Thanks for your advice. We went through the wizard on both machines without any problems - even the tests work, but still no sound.
I get the notification sounds but my father in law does not - does that help narrow it down for anyone?0 -
I have the same problem with 8.5 and Vista. People can see me but not hear me. I've also done all the setup and it registers my voice then, just not during conversations. I've spoken to a friend using AIM with no problems.0

what are you using to talk through? is it built in mic or webcam:hello: :j0

Built in mic & webcam at my end, usb webcam and mic at other end.0

is it a logitech webcam that your dad is using?if so i had similar problems.
i removed the software that came with the webcam, leaving the drivers and just use messenger to control the webcam,
it means that you cant use all the fancy effects that come in the package but at least the webcam might work,
ps also update the drivers for the webcam.:hello: :j0 -
Sorry for somewhat hijacking your thread bcfcjwb1, but I have the problem when I'm sending only - the people receiving don't have cams or mics. My mic and camera are built in. I've not found anyone with a webcam that I can try a 2-way conversation with.0

Hi fishing-girl,
Yes, he does have a logitech camera. I'll get him to uninstall the software and start again.
I'll also get him to check his XP firewall.
Anyone else have any words of wisdom?0 -
Problem solved!
It turns out that my father in law did not have v8.5 as he had originally thought. He's now upgraded and things are working ok.
He is on dialup and we are on broadband. Voice only is fine, voice + our webcam is passable, but voice and both webcams not useable!0
