The one relaxing thing we quite enjoyed was ... just to the north of Dublin (can't remember the name of the place but it's on the way to a bit of an island where they play golf - and I'm sure someone will jump in with the name, or I can look it up), there's a spit of land you can drive out to and park on the beach.
