I recently scanned a 60 page document to a single PDF file. I scanned each page as a JPGs and saved them as page01.jpg, page02.jpg ... page60.jpg. In Windows Explorer by having files in Name sequence ascending (default), selecting all (Ctrl+A) and then printing (File/Print) to a PDF Printer I output all 60 pages to a PDF file. I use Bullzip PDF Printer - www.bullzip.com/products/pdf/info.php as it has more features than other PDF Printers such as control over output quality (screen or printer), watermarks, merging output to an existing PDF file, password protection etc.

I did have a problems getting pages to print in the correct sequence. After selecting all the JPGs with Ctrl+A hold down the Ctrl key and with the left mouse key select the 1st file (page01.jpg), this will unselect it, keep Ctrl key depressed and with the left mouse key select the 1st file again, this will select it again and when you print it should start at page 1 and other pages should print in sequence. I am using "Single-Click" option in Windows Explorer, you hover mouse pointer over file until it changes colour, if your using "Double Click" (which is the default) you have to single click to select.

I've noticed the Print option does not always display in Windows Explorer, if this is the case select all JPGs and press Enter, this will take you "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer", click the Print icon along the bottom and it will take you to the "Photo Printer Wizard".

Obviously as they are scanned as JPGs you cannot search for text in Adobe Reader. The only way to achieve that is to scan with OCR software but having tried numerous versions from magazine cover CDs and freeware I have not found one that scans without needing major reformatting and checking for errors.
