BT landline 12 month contract?

hi, i moved into rented property back in September 2007.i phoned BT to get the phone line activated. i will be moving out in July when my student placement finishes and want to cancel my bt line - i dont know if im on a monthly basis or 12 month contract?
i havent signed anything and just phoned them up to get the line activated so i could use broadband.

You will be on a 12 month contract for line rental.
However, BT will allow you to cancel the line early for a fee of £70 or the line rental for the reminder of the 12 month period (whichever is less)
If you are taking out another BT line at your new address, they won't charge anything.

my parents have bt landline at home, i wonder if i tell them im moving back to my old property and have a landline there already0 -
You only owe a few months just pay the penalty fee.
I am assuming you are on the basic BT line rental and not any other option for calls and that you do not want a new 2nd line in parents home.
Or by involving your parents you could end up in a bit of mess, keep it simple.0
