How to include own pix here, please.

When I click the Insert Image icon, message says:
'Please enter the URL of your image:'
with a box below to complete, starting - http://.

For more than 2 years this has been my instant cut-off point.
I don't know what any of it means and there are no http:// thingies on my pix.
I just want to insert one of my own pix in a post and don't know how.
I should have asked long ago........
Thankyou for any help.

You have to host your pictures on a web site such as www.photobucket.com.

Once you have your pictures stored there you can copy and paste on a post and show your picture. You don't need to use the system you are trying for pictures, thats for links to web pages.

Just set up an account, upload the picture you want, copy and then paste the bottom choice under the picturepost you want.

Oh Rikki - that is possible.
I finally mastered it to include some pix for a VW transporter I was offering(in France!)on Freecycle.
I was very excited to have managed this, so will now try and add the pic in question.
    Thankyou again.

  • You can also add any picture on the internet without adding it to photobucket. For example the MSE logo at the top of this page. Simply right click on the image and select 'properties' then copy and paste the URL shown into the 'insert image' box. Dont ask me about copyright issues though

Join an image hosting site like http://photobucket.com and make it private.

    Upload the image to photobucket.

Then in your album there will be a choice of two links.

Select the one that starts with [IMG and copy it.

Come back here and in the thread/possition you want the image to appear paste what you copied.
Or you can copy the URL the one beginning with http and click the image iconinsertimage.gif at the top of the window you are editing in MSE.

Then enter the URL address you copied into the popup window and click OK.

Thats about it, sounds complicated when you type it out but only takes a minute to do.

Do not use links from other sites as that is not good etiquette and you may find the board managers removing the link anyway.

That gives you a link to the image but doesn't display the picture in the post.

Thankyou all - 'tis done and posted.
Rikki, your lovely pic is not dissimilar to my alter-place, where I live in my head when not actually there, but I suspect the tower is a little more osterreich than my frankreich corner.
On second blush, those exposed rock outcrops DO look very like..........
