  • OP.....you seem to care about your friend a great deal......are you not able to offer him a roof until he can sort himself out?

Am really overcrowded myself here- got three kids in a 2 bed flat- 2 girls share room and boy shares with me

So as afr as I can see its best if he doesnt give the keys back today and waits for the courts to serve an eviction order??

Anyway, as the Landlord has yet to apply to court for possession, I would suggest that your friend sits tight. He could also apply for discretionary Housing Benefit which is payable for a brief period to enable him to pay the rent and stop it escalating even further.

The landlord has obviously issued notice in January, so thus he's had 2 months to find something else... It's all very well sitting tight, but if they have to get a court order for possession then get balifs to kick him out, then how on earth is this poor guy ever going to find accomodation ever again? No landlord would touch him with a bargepole!

Not to mention that those hoping to move in would potentially also be left homeless if he refused to move out!

Indeed you are overcrowded, but have you not even got space for a sleeping bag on the floor, in exchange for some babysitting or cleaning?
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Its a bit difficult to find a landlord that will touch you while you are on JSA with no deposit anyway. He has been looking at flatshares since then- 90% of then insist professionals only, and the rest want 6 weeks rent as deposit.

So what is the asnswer? Im sure he isnt the first person in this situation and wont be the last- obv would have been far less of a problem if he hadnt been carng for his wife and had been working fulltime anyway.

I know he can't live with family when he starts his new job but I don't see why he can't live there until then.

How about the cost pof getting there? He could stay in the travelodge for less money than the fare

Why hasnt he gone out and worked at netto/tesco/sainsburys anywhere?> 3 months at least on JSA?

And now.. he cant even find his own roof over his head. Is he special needs? Or vulnerable? How can it take 3 months to get a job..

No private landlord would take on someone who cant afford to rent and who wants to pay less rent than is due.

Have you never heard of hitch-hiking? He's a guy of 23 for goodness sake, it's not difficult you know.

Well I hope that you never find yourself in a desperate situation. He didnt KNOW he would suddenly need to find a job- he has been a carer for his wife for 3 years. Seems that he wouldve been better off letting SS care for his wife and him go to work. He didnt have a passport or even a bank account in his own name- hence the 3 week plus wait for the job start date- it was Feb when he was offered it but the HR dept seem to be a bit slow in sorting out this stuff

So tell me what is the answer for young single people earning little these days?

Living at home or flat sharing. Same as it's been for many years.
