Hi has anyone any ideas what I can do with our collection of stick insects. The children have lost interest and , to be honest, so have I. People have suggested that I let them go in the garden but that would be certain death. I have offered them to several schools but no one is interested.
Any suggestions would be great
Thanks

what ever you do DONT leave them go outside i am sure it is ilegal...
the only thing i can suggest is offer them on freecycle, or if you have a local pet shop that sells live stock, see if they want them for free..
if not keep taking the eggs out and put them in the freezer to kill the egg, or use the eggs as fish food, this will hopefully at least stop you from getting any more babies
you could also list them on ebay, as feeder food, but this is just to get round ebay rules...
funny enough i was just looking on ebay for stick insects...lol...Work to live= not live to work0 -
Ah memories my first pet was a stick insect which cost 2p bargain! Can't kids sell them to their mates. Share your problem around a bit. Only joking! Good luck. Perhaps fortunate it wasn't rabbits! Em better go now.Grocery challenge june £300/ £211-50.

Maybe a zoo or one of these reptile (Ok I know they're not reptiles but still!) places will have them. Have you also tried GCSE age schools? They might use them for Biology, not sure if you just tried primary schools? It's nice you're actually looking for a home, alot would just let them go0

If you are anywhere near Cambridge I'd happily have them for my classroom!“A journey is best measured in friends, not in miles.”

we had the same trouble.
since they are hermaphrodites, you only need one to end up with a huge amount of them.
i donated mine to a pets corner at a local park. i don't know what they did with them- display or feed for other animals there though.
i must not have been careful enough when transporting them because a year later i found a live baby one in my car...0 -

There's one close to where my boys go to school. I will pop in and ask them as there has a new hatch over the past couple of days ( lots of tiny stick insects not much bigger than a giant ant).
I actually bought ours at a carboot sale 4 for £2 We are now on the 2nd and 3rd generation after about 18 months.
I would like them to be re-homed rather than a tasty treat for some reptile
Thanks for your suggestions.
