cheap flights to usa?

hi, i'd like to fly out from London Heathrow to Chicago from 4th July to 13th July. The issue is that the tickets are ridiculously expensive. 500quid +
im a student so the cost hits me hard, i was wondering if i wait till the start of June - will there be any airline special price offers?

at the moment, all the airlines like Brit Airways, Virgin, Air India etc have offers to go chicago if i travel this month, will these still be available in June/July time?

I had a quick look on a couple of websites (STA, Opodo, Kayak) and the cheapest fare I could find was on Dialaflight, if you could travel from LGW rather than LHR, it quotes £398 (£238 + £160 tax) but doesn't give any further info.

I suppose its peak season and I don't know whether the fact that you are travelling on 4 July will impact prices and availability any further?

No - the cheap offers finished last month or early this. Prices will go up nearer the time.

Prices are 'ridiculously expensive' because it's high season and the planes will be full.

Have you thought about flying into another airport?
We did that on our last trip and saved major quid by doing so!

We wanted to go to Philadelphia but flew into Newark instead and just drove to Phila. (about 2 hrs.) and saved about £300 by doing so.
