Send an e-mail reminding them of the terms of the agreement you had that the money would be with you by the 31st October.

Don't forget to ask for interest on it too. That is a legal requirement of the solicitor.

take the money and run, i had probs with my ex, she wanted 1/2 the value of the house in cash ( chuckle chuckle) when it was pointed out to her that she wasnt going to get money she was merely in debt by 1/2 the mortgage and she was legaly liable for that 1/2 she signed over pretty quick.

until you have sorted it, technically even though you may not ne living there you should be paying 1/2 mortgage.

hard to move on especially if she has shat on you from a great height. just remove all your stuff from the house and agree with her which items of a large value ( plasma tv, stereo, pc) you both paid for and either she can buy your half or simply you take them and you give her 1/2 value of the items.

and as stated, if you paid the deposit, i would get that back.

DOH i didnt realise there were 2 pages to this one.

it may be worth pointing out you had to pay rent else where as you couldnt live at the house, thus you should be exempt from that months mortgage.

good luck, she will get her comupance (?) at some stage

  • A couple of posts mention who paid how much of the deposit and for improvements etc. This will not be relevant if you hold the property as Joint Tenants (most likely) whereby regardless of what each of you put in, you each own 50%. If you were to proceed to sale, a process of equitable accounting could make up for differences in money spent on mortgage repayments and improvements etc. If you spent a huge amount compared to her, you could try to factor that in. It seems she wants to hang on to the house, so might be negotiable. Refer to other sale prices if that helps. If at the end of the day however she sticks with £182k, I'm with the others on this - arguing over this is not worth the hassle, stress and money (any extra you may gain (and that's may) would likely be lost on legal fees. Good luck with your new life.
