Window and nosy people

Our windows open inwards (tilt and turn, I think they're called?) so I can't use net curtains or blinds. I really need to find something to stop people seeing into the lounge. I also need to be able to ignore unwelcome visitors - at the moment it's impossible to ignore them because they can see us

Please help, the only thing I can do at the mo is keep the curtains closed and I don't want to sit in the dark while I'm working :D

There is a film you can put directly onto glass to make them "frosted" but it would also affect your view out too. There is also an etching spray where you can do full or partial coverage of glass.

You could attach net rail to the window frames themselves.

We have tilt and turn windows but still have voile hanging and doesnt cause too much of a problem when windows are opened
  • Hi,

I live in a flat, and have tilt and turn windows, very handy for cleaning them, I have vertical blinds, and heavy green velvet curtains to the floor, and no problems, the verticals slide to the side and windows turn in no bother. Perhaps your window isn't deep enough.

How about fitting the nets to the window frames so when window opens in the nets are fastened to the window. We had tilt and turns and the net were fastened to the wooden window frame and we could still open the window to allow air, we only undid the nets when we wanted to open all the way in to clean windows
  • Hi,

did a wee search and found this thread, some good ideas, think the velcro might do you.

    Thanks all :D

I wanted vertical blinds but the opening part of the window is practically the same height as the recess so there's no room to fit them. I have no idea why it's like that, I think they fitted the windows themselves. We found loads of strange little DIY jobs when we moved in, all done slighty wrong or just plain weird :D

I'll try fitting the nets to the frame, great idea :T Actually, I quite fancy voile..........tru makes plans to visit Dunelm :D
