Hi again,
Thank you all for your kind help on my other posts regarding laying laminated floors.
I am now down to getting kitchen and stairs done, vinyl in kitchen carpet on stairs and haven't decided as yet whether to put vinyl or tiles in bathroom.
Whats the best way to move a large fridge in kitchen? No problem at first as we can just slide it over old vinyl onto laminated flooring dinning area, but moving it back again maybe problamatic as I'm afraid it might scratch the new vinyl. Are those slider things any good and where is best place to buy them,
thanks again
Tina

Have you got a spare bit of carpet or an old rug? Slide it under the appliance you want to move and it should protect your vinyl from damage. Just move it slowly and carefully and you should be OK.0

Hi tina,
I had a similar problem with a Fridgfreezer.
I bought an adjustable Trolley from Comet,I cant remember how much I paid for it.
I found that each time I tried to move it,the Fridge would come off the Trolley and was difficult to lift it back on again.
My way of solving this problem(woman alone ),was by fastening the small legs of the Fridge to the Trolley with some fine wire.
Not noticeable, but it works for me.Member of the £2 savers club.£320

The man who laid our vinyl flooring said to use a spare bit of vinyl, upside down - good face to good face - that way the flooring doesn't get stratched. Worked for us!0

I find that a peice of hardboard (cheap wood, get it from b+q, varnished on one side and dimpled, fibrous on the other, thinner than plywood, big boards less than a fiver) works well. use is shiny side down, and it gives you the benefit of twisting and turning without ripping, which I can imagine vinyl could. It also works with heavier washing machines. As it is so thin, you dont have to lift anything very high to get them off it, handy if the gap to the worktop is tight.
My father in law always recomended lubricating the surface with washing up liquid to slide white goods in, though never tried it.0 -
I have my fridge on lino/vinyl and when I move it out for cleaning I squirt washing up liquid around the feet and it skids out nicely. When finished I just wipe it up. A washing machine engineer showed me this trick and it works fine.Life itself is the most wonderful fairy tale - Hans Christian Andersen2012 savings:remortgage £156.15pcm £5 pcm insurance reduced; 2012 Running totals: £10 goodwill requests/Grocery Coupons £12:T0

As already said the cheap sort of the appliance wheel sets that you can get are useless as they fall out as your moving the appliance - especially if you don't move in a straight line.
To move our washing machine we have a piece of carpet underneath ( fluffy side down) to stop it scratching ceramic floor tiles.. If you cut the carpet accurately enough you can barely notice it's there. Added bonus for the washing machine is less vibration too.
