Is there anything I can do about this situation? We placed an order for a super king sized divan bed from tesco direct on the 6th march. We were given a delivery date for the 17th and phoned to check this on the 10th to which the delivery date was confirmed so we gotrid of our old bed, placed an order for a 6ft head board which was made to our requirements and then we recieved a call today to say that the bed had been discontinued and all they could do was offer us a refund!! There was nothing stating that it was discontinued on the website and we were not made aware of the problem when we spoke to one of the representatives on the telephone surely there must be something we can do can anyone help?

You can't get blood out of a stone, if they don't have the bed instock your not getting it. Did they offer you with an alternative?
I just bought a mattress online and the cheapest by far was http://www.mattress24.co.uk
They also sell beds, all on next day delivery when I was quoted 4 weeks for the same mattress elseware.Lets get this straight. Say my house is worth £100K, it drops £20K and I complain but I should not complain when I actually pay £200K via a mortgage:rolleyes:0 -
I've ordered twice from mattress24 and both times it was delivered on time and they seemed a good price.
As for Tesco, not much they can do if they don't have it in stock any more - your head board will fit the same bed from another company or a different bed so long as the size is right I assume? They should have been more on the ball as to what they had in stock but they've offered the refund as they should. If you want to use Tesco again, you could always ask if they can do a deal on another more expensive bed for the price you wanted to pay on the one they no longer have. After posting about receiving an email to my MSE username/email from 'Money Expert' (note the use of ' '), I am now unable to post on MSE. Such is life.0 -
try writing to or e-mailing them, outlining (reasonably) what happened & how disappointed you are with their poor communications & customer service, & also how you've been inconvenienced
you still won't get the bed you chose, but they may make a goodwill gesture of some sort
good luck0 -

Hi,
They wont do anything for you at all unless the actual customer service was poor.
What you might like to do is call the Operations Manager on 01382 822582 (Helen McCallum) - she is new and complain directly to her.
Helen.Mccallum@uk.tesco.com.
They have a poor stock system and always have lines that go out of stock. Its poor but hey what can you do if they dont have it? - Complain like hell until you get some cash!!!!0 -
the headboard wont make the bed anymore available. Why not just order a new bed the same size thus your new headboard will still fit? Its irritating i agree, but what do you expect them to do? they cant materialise what they haven't got.0

As most people have said, they can't give you the bed if they don't have it, and they are too big a company to put themselves out for you by ordering one from the manufacturers especially for you.
The best you can do is complain in the hope that you may get some compensation, then go and buy a bed from someone else.
There are other companies far cheaper than mattress24, but I can't say on here.0
