The other thing aswell.....look up how Warren Buffett made money.
It may help you avoid chasing the market down and wiping out your profits.I can take no responsibility for the use of any free comments given, any actions taken are the sole decision of the individual in question after consideration of my free comments.

I really can't see this dip in prices lasting with all the big bonus' coming up soon from the city workers which always spreads around the country with the end of the financial year.
As I understand it, bonus payments are around Christmas time. Not the end of the financial year. Mates in the City say they are getting lower bonuses and avoiding property.oswestry123 wrote: »If I was a first time buyer I would be getting a bargin this spring, and also I heard that in spring sales seem to go up.
It usually does, yes. But doesn't seem to be happening this year.oswestry123 wrote: »Even though we are probably getting less for our house now than we would of a year ago I still think we will be better off when we move as we will get the house we want for less too.
That's why lower house prices are a good thing!oswestry123 wrote: »Basically I never really listen to the predictions as they are usually wrong and if i buy a house today anywhere in the UK its a fact that in 5 years time it will be worth a lot more than in 2008.
Not a fact at all. Had you bought in 1989, the house would've been worth less in 1994. And probably still in 1999, for that matter!oswestry123 wrote: »Prices might take a temporary dip this year but seriously folks it won't last so its perfect time to sell/move/buy!!
Why won't it last?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
house went on the market in january sold in 2 weeks for £3000 less than asking price, about to exchange contracts and move in 2 weeks.
loads of properties in our area are selling (worcester) so i can't understand all the panick.
and i got a mortgage no problem and i have a default so it can't be that bad yet.0 -
I really can't see this dip in prices lasting with all the big bonus' coming up soon from the city workers which always spreads around the country with the end of the financial year.US bank Bear Stearns has got emergency funding, in a move that raises fears that one of Wall Street's biggest names is on the verge of collapsing.0

My wife works for one of the big banks in the city. There are no big bonuses this year, only a lot of long faces.[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Rise like Lions after slumber

to put a slight spin on things...we are actually looking to move up soon
We have seen a very nice new build on the market for 229,999
I won't pay a penny over 200k for it (with LOTS of extras).....and my starting bid will be 190k
We are only doing this as we intend to live in the house for a LONG time0 -

Its on for the bargin price of £155k which is a lot lower than other three beds in the area that are averaged around 160k which are not up to the same standard. This is the first time we have sold a house and as its priced to sell fast I was kinda hoping I would of had some calls today from the Estate Agents requesting viewing etc. When can I expect to get some viewing? What is the norm???I am pretty impatience I know!!Also what is considered a quick sale time wise in the current market??A quick sale is a quick sale, no matter what the market is doing. I have agreed sales recently within two days of the properties coming to the market. Others have taken 4-6 six weeks & some 4-6 months. One was on the market for 9 months and ended up getting two people bidding on it on the same day.Viewings depend on how good the agent you have chosen is and who is actually looking to buy at the time.oswestry123 wrote: »Any comments you have would be great.oswestry123 wrote: »Also how long after its on the Estate Agents website does it update onto rightmove??It all depends on how the agent is linked to Rightmove. If they have a datafeed it is usually done overnight, if they do it manually, then its down to how quick the agent can get everything done. Some city bonuses are paid in March/April, a mate of mine gets his in April. It won't have a massive effect on 99.9% of the UK housing market.0

I don't know the area you live in or how popular it is (and some how I doubt a lot of the people posting on this thread do either), so I can't really say how long it will take to sell your house.
I live in a popular area, and a good property here will sell in about a week, and probably at the asking price. There's a lovely 4 bed semi on my street that went up for sale last week, and is now showing as being sold subject to contract. Way out of my budget sadly!!
The city bonus thing didn't really happen this year... well, they did all get bonuses, and they were still big in comparison to what a lot of other folk get, but they were nothing spectacular! I get mine at the end of the tax year, but I'm not holding my breath for anything amazing!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0
