I just want to say a big thank you. After the program about Council tax banding, I investigated and found that my 3 bedroom house was in the same band as the 4 beds in my area. I contacted the council and without any arguement I recieved, yesterday, an official notice that my banding has gone down a level. If I had not seen the program, I would still not be any the wiser. So thank you again. You have saved me around £300 a year.:j :A

Hi, it has been a wee while since I posted the saving I had made through viewing 'It Pays to Watch', I will now give you the details and updates. When I investigated my street, I found that there were 4 of us who have 3 bed houses that were lumped in with our 4 bed neighbours at band F. In the rest of our area 3 beds were banded at E. I contacted the others - 2 have taken this up with our local council - who without any arguement - have 'downgraded' our properties to band E - in line with the other 3 beds in my area. Not only that - we are due a rebate for the years we have overpaid of around - wait for it - £2,500. One of my neighbours has also questioned the water rate and has been told that this should be cheaper too - and is expecting a further £1,100 return on this. I will also apply for this. Do not hesitate, go to the instructions on this website and follow them. Apparently councils have known about these anomilies for years and were just hopeful no-one would find out. It is important that you check the banding of similar properties in your area.
