tesco grocey code help needed

feel free to move this post if it's on the wrong board.
I did my normal shop online and when it came the discount code was not deducted, i called cust services as usual but this time they asked me to email the details of the e-coupon to them, has anyone else had this?
If so do they just refund the code to your account or is it a TRAP? lol

ive never had this, once they deducted the coupon online, but when my shop came they hadnt taken the coupon off, so i phoned customer services and told them it was deducted offline, but not when the shop was delivered and they just refunded me the voucher....

I have had similar experiences with customer service. On some occasions they will refund the money with an apology and no questions. Other times they have demanded a code and virtually accused me of making it up!
If you haven't kept a record of the code you inputted, I don't think there's anything you can do. It seems to depend on who you speak to on the day.

hmm still getting slightly paranoid about this now, I always take a note of the discount code and how much the discount is, so emailing them is not a problem i just dont want to be told off or banned from using discount codes. The code was accepted online but did not show on my account summery

dragonfly02, did you buy any items which were 'internet special offers' ? I've only realised recently, that whilst savings from usual offers are not included in te order total and so you can use a voucher, the internet offers ARE included.

e.g. if you've a £10 off £50 voucher and have spent £51, but one item was on an internet only special with £1.50 off, your total is really only counted as £49.50 for voucher purposes, so although you think you've qualified, you haven't.

Other special offers do not work in this way so won't catch you out.

  • hi boots_babe, i don't think i got any online offers i cannot be sure but the total cost was about £68 and i didn't get too many offers. when the shopping was delivered on the sheet they give you my total to pay was £62 so i still should have qualified

You won't get told off i'm sure. When this happened to me they seemed to suggest it was just a technical error and without the code they couldn't put it right. The statement the driver brings had said they would email me with the reason they could not use the code at the time of checkout, but when I contacted the shop they denied it had said such a thing! However, when I produced the code, they apologised and gave me the money.
Definately phone with the code. They will not ban you from using codes, they want your business too much.

Dragonfly, the same thing happened to me today. They refused my £15 voucher off my £109 shop. I have emailed them to ask what the problem was. I thought emailing was safer as i didnt want to be asked over the phone where the code came from.

heyy, i have had the same problem today. when i did my order it said it was accepted, but in the check out total it didin`t show. so i called customer services and they said to ring after delivery and they would refund.
so this i did and they refused to reund the £10 even though i had spent the required amount.
i think tesco are getting wise to the coupon usage...
pain in the bum though, as they get a good £100 out of me every week...gggrrr
