Is it normal for a fridge to constantly hum?

My fridge-freezer is driving me mad. It constantly hums, is this normal?

Its only 2 months old, we had it in another room before this week so not sure if it has just started humming after we moved it into the kitchen or whether it has always hummed.

It is sooooooooooo annoying, can I get it to stop?!

Thanks
Sally

yep, bleeders hum most of the time..... if its louder then its trying to cool down........
where it is now, is it near a source of heat, ie oven, boiler...... if so this would cause it to try and stay cool by working a lot harder
smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to.... ;)

Good evening: What type of floor is the fridge sitting on and is it level? Is it located near other appliances? Are all the interior components secure? Sometimes a resonance with the floor, surrounding cabinets, unbalanced shelving etc will develop and result in the humming sound...happened to us and drove me round the bend and back again until we sussed it;)

    Hello,

Its not near any other appliances or heat sources. Its currently sitting on cork flooring (but this is going to be changing to wooden floor boards). Its right next to my work top but nothing else.

I will maybe move it slightly and see if that works, or just wear ear plugs........!

    Thanks everybody.
