NTL Virgin Media Complaint (Overcharging)

Options
Hi Guys

I have been overcharged by what was NTL for a period of 2 years by £40 per month. I should have been paying £35 per month for all 3 services instead I was paying approx £90 per month!!!!!

I have contacted NTL but they refuse to answer any questions directly by phone or letter and say that I was not overchaged and they owe me nothing, but that I owe them £76. How can they work that out???? I am now about to fill out the application for to CISAS to look into this for me.

If anyone else has been overcharged by NTL/Virgin media or received an outstanding bill for something they cleary do not owe, please reply to this message. I would like to see how many other people are affected. A lot of people I have spoken to have had a similar problem.

Lets all try and stop Virgin media ripping customers off once and for all.

If Martin reads this I would really like him to look into the issues with NTL/Virgin media to see waht can be done.

Many thanks guys!!!!!

Adam

    Hiya,

Can you give us some more information?

Why do you think you were overcharged £40 per month for the last 2 years?

Have you been charged twice for some things? Or are you paying standard prices & you thought you are entittled to a deal?

I only pay £30 per month & I would notice if I was charged £40 more.

Some people are too clueless to realise.

As if you wouldn't notice overpaying nearly a grand.

Martin needs to look into the ridiculous slandering of companies....whilst he is trying to save us all money, there are regular posts on this site that beggar belief.

    This being yet another one.
  • I have now received a letter today saying that I don't owe the £76, how has that come about all of a sudden just because I was looking into it further did it scare them, there is probably innocent couples out there especially the elderly who have received these letters & who have paid up so of course they are laughing, as a matter of fact I was ringing ntl every month querying my bill, but they couldn't explain the extra charges I was put on to another person then another person finally being told to ignore it & that I was only being charged the amount I agreed to, it came to the stage when I actually recorded a message of the conversation I had with them but unfortunately wouldn't keep til now on my phone, the final conversation I did have with them was confirmed that I never owed a penny, straight after that I cancelled all my services with them.
  • I have just had a long conversation on the phone with virgin media querying the letter I received today & I asked for proof of me owing the £76, & they said they haven't got any proof because they don't keep records for that long ago can only provide evidence for previous 12 months, so how on earth could they just send out random bills from the debt collecting agency without knowing what the payment is for ???
How many others have had bills dated over a year with this company, without proof of what the bill is for surely your not entitled to pay it.

BTW there are customer service problems with most of the companies people complain about but the real issue is the person posting is unable to write coherently enough so people understand their problem.

The poster then goes away and doesn't answer the questions posed to them by those who may offer them help and/or get angry when the reply they receive is not what they wanted due to the limited information they originally posted.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

    OP,

You still haven't explained why you were overcharged for so long?

As olly300 has noted, your posts don't make a lot of sense?
    Gone ... or have I?

OP without further information I don't think people can help much. Doesn't solve the problem, but maybe this will in the future mean you will check bank statements monthly to see if anything is wrong. If your over charged you need to highlight this to the company concerned immediately (preferably within a month of the error occurring). If you don't want to be out of pocket in the future check bills when they arrive and bank statements.

Its not easy getting money back from virgin media. They messed up my bill one month and took £80 too much. They refused to do anything other than place a credit for it on my account with them. Took me over 6 months to use the credit up.
