Alba Digital Radio £29.99 Sainsburys

Options
Alba TRDAB2820 Digital Radio £29.99 in store at Sainsburys. They had just been put out on the shelf at my local Sainsburys at the Wyven Centre, Derby yesterday.

I have never seen this model for less than £50.

It is a superb little radio and is great value at this price.

This DAB digital radio features:

FM reception
displays DAB station information and scrolling text
autotune feature
telescopic aerial and carry handle
stores 10 DAB and 10 FM radio stations in its memory for instant recall

Checked this out at Sainsbury's altrincham, it's 49.99 on the shelf and at the till. Tesco are doing the same radio for 44.99 - but at this price this unit's not worth it.

    Shame.....

DAB isn't crap!! - have a Astra with in car DAB and if you want a wider rane of stations and stations such as 6music and xFM then DAB's for you (check overage in your area!).

I bought one of the Red DB7 from the very same Sainsburys store in Derby for home use - was in the sale at £39.99 (down from £49.99) a couple of weeks ago. Reviewed as one of the best sounding and it works fine in the Peaks of Derbyshire.

Dont rise to the bait of morons making stupid comments.

If he/she wanted to express that DAB was "crap" he would have done so in an informative way.

Obviously had nothing better to do.

To be fair DAB plainly isn't very good compared with a quality FM reception, It's almost as hard to get a quality DAB reception as it is to get a quality FM reception, plus if your DAB reception is dodgy the whole thing disappears wheras on FM it just sounds a bit hissy, or drop it into mono. But that wasn't a very good way of arguing the point. The selling point for me is 5 live not on dodgy AM reception - well at 29.99 it would be anyway ;)

From previous comments on this subject on here it does seem that there is a lot of difference between reception on different equipment in the same area. Just because it says DAB on the radio doesn't mean it will get the same reception as another brand of DAB radio. Personally I have 2 Pure DAB radios and TalkSport is actually listenable to on them... they were always 'wandering off' on my AM radio.

Well, my usual Sainsburys arem't selling at the discounted price and didn't know why other stores were and they weren't!

Thanks for the info about DAB, hadn't realised that it is such a minefield

 Forgive my ignorance but is 'Pure DAB' different to 'DAB'?

'Pure' is a manufacturer of DAB radios - 'Pure DAB' is a DAB radio made by Pure
