Advice welcomed re prize

Hi all, I recently won a runners up prize of a years membership with virgin active (gym) but sadly the nearest one is at least 1.5 hrs drive away. I thanked them and told them this, and asked if possibly the prize was transferable, or if they might be able to offer me anything else, but the response was negative. What would you do in my shoes? should I forfeit the prize so they can redraw, or try to negotiate with the original sponsors of the competition (florette)

Personally I think that you knew what the prize was when you entered, and it's likely that the terms said it would be non transfereable etc so I would say they are within their rights to refuse. It's always worth asking, but I would never expect them to offer me something else.

Well, when I entered I had my eyes on the main prize, and didnt really notice any consolation. thanks though

I'd forfeit and let them re-draw it. Nothing lost as you wouldn't use it anyways.

I think that if you cant use it its best getting it redrawn, you never know another MSEr might be the next drawn! Another win will come along soon:D

Ok, thanks for replies, the prize is back in the hat, and thats my good deed for the day
PS, can I still count it in the 2008 challenge?, i believe it is worth about £900??
