Incorrect date and/or time

When I turned my PC on yesterday morning I noticed the time was wrong. It was showing approx 3.30am instead of about 8.10am. I thought it a bit odd but just changed it to the correct time.
This morning when I turned the PC on, the time was showing 12.15pm yesterday (13th March).

I've checked that the time and date are set to GMT, automatically adjusting to BST etc.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks

    How old is the machine?
Your date and time should sycronise automatically, through the internet connection.
If not then your CMOS battery has failed.
They are easy enough to replace, they are located on the Mother Board, and its just like changing a watch battery.

  • Hi,

it will probably be the battery, CR2032, only about £1.50, and easily available, I get mine at local electrical shop.

    Thanks guys
My computer is nearly 6 years old so it sounds like it could be this battery.
    I'll give it a try.

Thanks for your help, I knew someone on here would know!
