Hsbc interest on purchases charge

HI.
I have Just noticed on my credit card statement that, HSBC have suddenly, with no notification, started charging me interest on purchases
???? I Telephoned them immediately and they've agreed to remove the charge. Has this happened to anyone else? A warning for all you old HSBC customers out there, to check your statements. I have been with them for over 20 years and pay my balance off in full every month.
