Anyone not been sent new car pass its now on page 337 in the 2008 handbook. I rang up and they said a lot of people did not realize this so could save you a phone call.

I joined the nt last week .I thought car parking was included (mse link) but today when I looked at Tatton Park in Cheshire it says £4.50 parking to members?

I was about to say you must be wrong about the parking at tatton park, have checked on the website and you are right - parking fee, even for trust members, also,

National Trust Members
Free entry to the Mansion and Gardens
50% discount to Old Hall and Farm
Supplementary charges apply for special events

So not such a good place to visit on the NT thing then, I thought this would be great as it is one of our local NT sites. Reading up more, it is jointly owned with Cheshire Council who, it appears, charges the parking fee!

I have never displayed the car parking pass and have never been asked for it - why do you need it?

For anyone that finds they do need to telephone National Trust about their membership try calling 01793 817400 instead of the 0870 number.

It definitely works out much cheaper as they are not the quickest of people to sort your problems out whilst you are kept holding on.

It depends on the property but a lot these days have a Pay and Display car park. If you do not display your parking pass in one of these you could be fined.
