Doing a half marathon in April, advice?

At the start of the year, a few friends asked me if i wanted to join their new years resolution of running a half marathon in April. I agreed, and set about my training. Its now March, and they've all dropped out and given up, but im determined to do it.
Ive been thinking on and off about doing it for a charity, as i know a lot of people do. I've chosen breast cancer care, as my mum suffered from this whilst i was at school, and recently my best friends mum has been diagnosed with it.
Only problem is, i've never done ANYTHING for charity on my own before, and i dont even know how to set about doing it. Does it look a bit self indulgent that im doing a 13 mile run and expecting people to sponsor me to do it? I've no idea where to get sponsorship forms or anything. Also if i was to do it i thought i'd be able to get hold of a tshirt or something that has the breast cancer care logo on it, but i cant find one anywhere.
Can anyone give me advice pleaaaaase?

Well done on sticking to your goals!!
My husband runs half marathons for the NSPCC and he just contacts them online and they send out a sponsorship pack which includes forms and also collection boxes and things. Maybe the breast cancer charity will do the same. Where abouts are you doing the half?0 -

Taunton. To be honest i'm just trying to complete the thing, my training hasn't gone that well, the most i've run is 4.5 miles with no stops. I have a 6 mile run on Sunday for Sport relief, so hopefully that will help, and then the next couple of weeks ill be stepping up to run a few 8 milers.0 -
I am doing a 10K this Sunday also. This will be my first so I am very nervous. _pale_
Most I have managed without stopping is also 4.5 miles. Good luck with yours. Let me know how you get on.0 -
I am doing a half marathon next January (13 miles) and plan to start training properly in the next few weeks. (Once the weathers a bit nicer) Good luck to you all with your runs. Be sure to update how you do.Boots Card - £17.53, Nectar Points - £15.06 - *Saving for Chrimbo*2015 Savings Fund - £2575.000

good on you, a 1/2 marathon is a great achievement, do 1 long run a week and get it up as long as possible upto about 10 days before the race, then ease down to rest your muscles, you can walk short bits on this long run if it helps. do 2 or 3 other runs each week but nice and short, 2 - 4 miles, with some faster running or hills in these.
for charity advice look on runnersworld.co.uk a great site which gives tips mon how to collect the most you can. beware the run is the easy bit, collecting the money is much harder.0 -
Completed my sport relief 6mile run yesterday! Just over 40 minutes. Had to stop once, for about a minute, due to nearly throwing up, but then continued and finished. Pretty pleased with myself!0

FiftyPents that's brilliant well done! :T
I completed my 10k which is about same distance but it took me 1 hour 5 minutes! I wasn't last though so I was pleased with that. It was really hard work though but enjoyable all the same. Doing another one in April now.0 -
