Comet edge card £10 Admin FEE WATCH OUT

Options
Hi am new to this board !!!

I have recently bought a Laptop from my local comet store, i was tempted by the Buy now pay later 6 month interest free offer. Which i know they rip you off if you do not pay in full within the 6 months period but i basically thought money bet off in my account then Comets for 6 months.....

Anyway after doing the basic credit checks etc i was told i have been approved for an edge card......not sure what it was so enquired.
Edge card is provided by Ge capital and basically they will provide the finance for comet.

Signed agreement made sure no extra costs etc left store nice and happy...
A Week later got statement through the post from GE with a £10 admin fee added to the original amount i had bought......
Phoned GE Capital and was told that the Admin fee was applicable on all Edge card accounts.... but i should of been told by comet of this cost explained i was not he basically said take it up with comet......

This is where it all went wrong after 2 emails over 2 hours on the phone to comet(at my cost)being transferred to all departments basically banging my head against the wall. I finally got a call from one of there so called managers telling me its GE that charges this £10 not them and that i had signed the paperwork so its basically tough......
after explaining the terms and conditions that i had signed which were "there might be a £10 admin fee on special transactions but you will be told before you make a transaction on your edge card" ........
After explaining the that i had spoke to one of there store workers and that they had said i should of been told of this charge she suddenly changed her tune.......
Anyway the upshot of this is that they are going to refund me the £10 admin fee as a goodwill gesture?????? She actually phoned the store i purchased the PC from and they had told her that i should of read a laminate sheet that was there as this explained the so called admin fee...... how am i supposed to be aware of this so called laminate sheet am i supposed to hunt the store for this ...and more importantly is that a sufficient way of telling you they is going to be a charge surely this is not disclosing the true charges of the agreement so they are mis-selling you this....
not happy with £10 refund have wasted 2 hours on phone and had really poor customer service.... Hope nobody else has been conned this way!!!

I've got finance from Edge for a sofa I bought from reids. I phoned them to ask that the payment due date be changed till after my pay day, and was told that it can't be changed??

I thought that they could just change the statement date which would make the due date 25 days later. Is this not the case?
  • that is bad and comet have picked up on this as when i bought my laptop they explained all charges the price is reasonable to currys £25 administration fee and 29% intrest after 6 months comets was 24.9% i went down the road to currys first off to check prices and one ther english is bad and two they havent got a clue what they were talking about. it was very frustrating and will never shop at currys again.
