I've just noticed that Dixons Tax Free reduce their prices by 15% and not 17.5% as advertised - Why is this - Anyone know..
Read the message that I've just sent them below :
Hi,
I noticed that your ‘Dixons Tax Free’ stores at airports around the UK claim to be charging the customer the price of the goods less the UK tax (VAT) which is 17.5% - Though that doesn’t seem to be the case, the real amount that your shops are taking off the RRP’s is 15% less, not 17.5%
Taken from your Dixons Tax Free Website - http://www.dixonstaxfree.co.uk/index.cfm?fuseaction=dixons.howtobuy
“We sell at the High St price before the addition of 17.5% VAT. We benchmark the High St price using Currys.digital with 180 stores across the UK.”
Currently your airport shops are making more money per item than your normal high street shops, as your not passing on the VAT on the products sold, and also aren’t reducing the items correctly for the customer.
For example:
Your currently selling the Nikon D60 VR Kit for £374.46
This is 15% less than the retail price of £439.99
Therefore your making a further £11.47 profit by selling this item through your airport shops than your high street ones.
If it was 17.5% less you should be selling it for £362.99
Any reason why ?
Many thanks for any help in this matter.
Regards,
Ray Reid.0
