I was recently asked to read my electricity meter. When I rang with my reading she said her computer highlighted it as an unusually high reading - I double checked but it is right. Previous readings have been estimated. What worries me is if my reading has been underestimated for the past year (say) and now it is put right will I have to pay the increased electric rates for the whole period??? This is unfair as they won't know what my reading was pre and post rate increase - any advice appreciated.

Hi,
I am not sure what your electricity board will do but I presume they will look back at your previous years usage across the seasons & take it from there.
I always check my estimated reading & inform them if the reading is way out either way. This solves the problem.
Good luck0 -
They will put the figures into 'the computer' and that will come up with an estimate of the consumption prior to any price change, and the consumption afterwards.
You probably will be able to haggle a little.
Don't forget there was a price decrease for most people last year(2 from BG) - as well as an increase; so it is a double edged sword.0
