eltwins,
I do think you are overreacting here.
You made a mistake, not Virgin. They charged you £6.38 as a result.
The way you are ranting you would think that they had charged you £638!0 -
I am livid. A year ago I subscribed to a site giving copies of university papers so that I could get an idea of what my university expected by way of standards and direction. It was only $1.99 but when I tried to get access to full papers they said I would have to pay the full subscription, which I didn't. Having learned the technique I dont want this subscription anymore but can I cancel it? I have emailed them loads of times, all returned. I have contacted paypal many times explaining and telling them not to pay, but they continue. Its not much, but its the principle!! My next step is to cancel my paypal account - much inconvenience all round. I really hate this sort of ripoff. At least I know Im not alone - dont deal with duenow.com (american - not surprised) so no comeback:mad: .:eek:0

why are they charging me interest on all £350 worth of purchases from date of transaction?
That's how credit cards work!0 -

There is no need for that kind of talk! Have you ever made a mistake?
I know we have made a mistake and we will not make it again. We have had credit cards for 25 years and paid it off every month, so have never realised this point about the cards and will not fall foul of it again. I just think lots of people don't know about it, thats all.
I have had quite an evening of it, so no need for you to have a go at me as well.0 -
thanks for info. did not realise this happens - but do now!!!:eek:0

Yes, of course I have made mistakes.
But the point is, you need to get it into perspective!Gone ... or have I?0 -
I like the Virgin card.
Firstly it's red. Don't laugh - this is important. It was the main reason I applied for the card, because my wife kept getting her debit and credit cards mixed up and muggins ended up having to pay all sorts of cash advance fees on my credit card. Now she knows that the red card is money we don't actually have - i.e. credit.
And secondly, they've said that anything I buy before my April statement will be interest free until my August statement. I think this was because we hadn't been using the card lately and they want to entice us back into spending on it - so that's the summer holiday paid for :beer:0 -

Unfortunately ignorance is no excuse. All customers are given the T&C's when they sign up to the credit card, which explains all charges. The credit card issuers cannot force people to read them really, but you should read it.0 -

Well at least someone came back and said that they did not know this either!
I do have it in prespective, I have cancelled a card that has a rude customer services agent!
I'm going now as I only came on to clear this up and got so much abuse! You should all go work for Virgin!0 -
From the article on the main site entitled 'Credit cards for new borrowing' :-
Watch out, lenders bite!
Credit card companies aren't nice. They've an array of tricks to bite your cash. Fail to pay off the card in full, even by just a few pounds and you'll have to pay interest on the whole amount;
.... as others have said .....it's always been thus!
And if you always pay in full .... you've got the wrong card! Get a cashback card (but always pay the monthly balance in full .... and do it by Direct Debit, if you're prone to leave bits off!)If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0
