Ironing board pads?

I've had a lovely Beldray ironing board for years, but it really seems to be in need of a new pad. I've seen them advertised, but they are a bit pricey. I was wondering what you ladies (and gents) use to pad yours. I thought I could use something from the material shop, but was worried that some materials might not be flame resistant!
Thank you!!
Thank you!!

I got something from a market stall - they sold foam that goes inside cushion covers, roller blinds, table protectors etc and they knew exactly what I was looking for when I tried to explain. Can't remember how much I paid but it wasn't expensive. Might be worth looking in a market if you have one nearby.0

hmmm.... my ironing board got padded over the years by: put an ironing board cover on, once it looks a bit shabby put a new cover over the old one, and so on and so forth. I should count one day how many are on there now! But I never seem to need any additional padding..... :-)"Remember that many of the things you have now you could once only dream of" - Epicurus0

My mum used to use a towel on her ironing board for extra padding, TBH, ive tried it, and it got on my nerves. Im looking for a new cover also, as when I iron, all my clothes have the metal criss-x mesh marks on them.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I bought a JML one months ago and it's the most annoying thing I've ever come across, it will not stay on!! Every time I go in the cupboard, it lands on me!0

Ours used to do this until we bought one of those silver reflective covers from Argos. I just put it straight over the old cover. As its reflective you don't have to press so hard. I was finding I was pressing too hard, thats how the xx marks were getting onto the clothes.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -

Have you a Wilkinsons store near you. I got one from there. Maybe they do them in their online shop if no store near you.0 -

Thanks, I also use a steam generator iron, so the extra steam could have been causing my problem.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -

Crazychik, you don't want one of the silver reflective pads if you have a steam generator, it will reflect the steam back up into your face (ask me how I know!).
I got an ironing board pad from John Lewis the other week, they come in different sizes and cost about £6 I think. I also bought a new cover from there (I have an ancient Beldray ironing board and a steam generator iron) and ironing has been a lot simpler since then!
