There were some lovely ideas on this thread. As you've now used up your left over mash, I've added your thread to an older thread to keep all the suggestions together.

Homity Pie.
Had this last night. Mix the mash with either fried or boiled chopped onions and garlic. Mix in grated cheese, put into a pastry case dried out in the oven. Put sliced tomatoes on top (optional), sprinkle with grated cheese. This is really good. I used to get it in Infinity Food's cafe in Brighton and I'm sure I've had it in Cranks in the dim and distant. Bake for 30 mins on 160.
I use wholemeal pastry. 6 oz wholemeal flour, 3 oz mixed marge and lard. Love the crunchy texture with the potato.0
