How do I clean a manky toilet bowl?

I watched one of Kim and Aggie's programmes recently where they had to deal with a manky loo, and it was gross!!!! :eek: and their solution was to syphon out the water from the bowl, using a bicycle pump, then pouring in neat white vinegar till it came up to the level of where the water would have been, but also mixed up a paste of borax and thickly smeared it around the rest of the loo - yes it was that bad and the entire loo was brown with crap _pale_
Left it for 24 hours and I was amazed to see a white loo again at the end of it!!! :eek:"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"
