Accor Hotels Best Price Guarantee - big problems, help needed!

Would just like to say I have had similar problems with Accor's "best price guarantee". They simply refuse to honour it, therefore calling it a guarantee seems a little absurd. I booked with Accor having seen the same room, same dates etc on a different website for several hundred pounds less. When I filled in the claim form, I got a reply a few days later saying basically the same as you:
On the basis of the information you have provided, we must unfortunately inform you that the Best Price Guarantee is not applicable to your reservation. The lower rate which you found on a site other than accorhotels.com concerns an offering different from that found on our site. The sale conditions are different so the best price guarantee is not applicable.
When I replied to say that they were identical they basically repeated the same email. I emailed back (twice) asking them to be more specific and have yet to receive a reply. Their customer service is pretty disgusting really as is their sneaky marketing strategy.0 -
Yeh, all pretty shoddy.
They only 'merket' this guarantee as some people sees the guarantee and presume it means the cheapest rates will be on their own web-site, thus making them more money than when booked through 3rd parties like Lastminute.
On the other foot, they are definitely not happy when people use this guarantee to their advantage to get an extra 10% discount, and will do everything to wiggle out of paying.
However, I no longer look at these type of offers as I can see the hassle that goes with it. I had a bit of hassle with the Ramada Offer (albeit for a free room) when I tried to check out as they wanted to charge me, but a few works with the manager, and a bit of name dropping and it was all smoothed over. Not worth the hassle again though.0
