    Dont go when the olympics are on its a seriously buy place anyway in fact I'd try to time it for just after the olympics.

    The summer palace is a must see go from the zoo cos you go by boat and its more fun :)

    Snack street off wangfujing is a must see too

    also the silk market is a laugh

    A hutong ricshaw tour is amazing too

    Theres a few firms do them we did ours from the south side of tianamen square

    You can do the forbidden city then tianamen then the tour all in a easy day.

    Oh and deffinately go see the acrobat show I'll think of more later :)
