Thanks for the update Bargainfinder - glad it WAS a typo!!

Also glad that you are working together to sort this all out.
We both got into our debt, but DH is the spender, I'm the soft touch that said OK to keep him happy!! NOT ANYMORE now I'm debt free.
He is very naughty for hiding the debt from you, but I will say this does usually happen when only one person deals with all the finances, so you do have some responsibility, in that you were leaving things to him.
I'm not sticking up for him, but he must have been under a lot of stress hiding all of this.
I have found it stressful enough paying off the debt, when hubby occasionally lapsed.
Good luck in clearing the debt - work together & you will clear it in no time.
Once again - Well done you for being as understanding as you have been:A
Comping again - wins so far : 2 V festival tix, 2 NFL tix, 6 bottles of wine, personalised hand soap, Aussie miracle conditioner

Married my best friend 15/4/16 :)
  • I think part of me not being able to get ridiculously angry with him, was because I did have my doubts about whether we could really afford everything we owned, I mean we are on the property ladder, have a nice TV, Stereo system, good holidays and eat good food! I was as upset with myself for being so nieve. And he has been really good at throwing himself into money saving, he never complains when he gets noodles and sausages for tea, or leftovers for lunch! And the times he does, all I have to do is start to remind him, and he will apologise again.
At the same time, he manages to keep me in check, when I am tempted to throw it all to the wind and just put something on the credit card.
It does give you a really nice feeling when you buy something or go away on holiday and you know you have the money, and you have earned it etc.

What's your story if you don't mind me asking? x

hopefully we will one day have our happy ending dream wedding. I hope that you can feel comforted by the fact that there are others out there who have been in similar situations.

PS my fiance thinks I should change my signature from 'we can't get married until we're debt free' to 'I will not marry my fiance til he's debt free'! lol

Just a quickie, we got married and went away on honeymoon for under £5000, (White wedding, 65 bridesmaids, 200 guests at the Reception, Nice car, photographer (this was before I found out our financial situation - I've always been a bargain hunter anyway!) so if you want any tips... I'd be happy to help! I'm sure you will get your dream wedding xx:T

I only found out what my ex had in debts when he left and most of it was in my name, including a damned !!!!!! channel he ordered online and didn't pay for! If I knew where he was I would do him for fraud, until then I am trying to pay it all back.
